COMPASS OFFER EXPLAINED. Most importantly this offer DOES NOT incorporate the purchase of the more than 400 independently owned luxury Christie’s Real Estate offices around the world, including the one I am proud to be a Broker Associate of, Christie's International Real Estate Southern California.

Compass has offered, and it appears franchisor @Properties an Illinois LLC has preliminary agreed to accept, the offer to be acquired.  The offer must go through numerous hurdles, including regulatory approval, before or if the deal is concluded.

One of @Properties assets is that they are the franchiser of the Christie’s Real Estate Brand which collects franchisee’s fees.  It is like the basket of brands the publicly traded Anywhere Corp owns such as Sotheby’s and Coldwell Banker.  The acquisition of the Christie’s Real Estate brand, if completed, will give Compass a fee income stream,  not ownership of,  the preeminent brand offices at the highest level of the Global Luxury Real Estate Market. 

It is noteworthy that in their announcement Compass’ offer incorporates other @properties assets including their large Chicago based @properties and Ansley brokerage businesses as well as their Title, Mortgage and Lead Generation Businesses.
